STS Clinical Practice Guidelines on arterial conduits for coronary artery bypass grafting

The Society of Thoracic Surgeons has released a new clinical practice guideline that recommends the use of arterial rather than venous conduits when performing coronary artery bypass grafting in certain patients.

The new guideline is available on The Annals of Thoracic Surgery website:

    grafting remains low.
    • In the STS ACSD, the current
    incidence of a second arterial graft
    is less than 7%
    • SYTNAX trial 35.3% of patients
    received more than one arterial
    conduit
