Welcome to the NZ Cardiothoracic Conference in Blenheim 21-23 March 2025, where we gather to explore the forefront of advancements in cardiac and thoracic surgery. We are excited to have you join us for this enriching event, which promises to be a platform for sharing knowledge, fostering collaboration, and igniting new ideas within our field.
This year, we will delve into several critical topics, including the intricate management of mitral valve disorders, the latest techniques in aortic surgery, and the innovative approaches to lung cancer treatment. As we know, mitral valve pathologies present unique challenges that require precise surgical intervention and comprehensive patient care. The sessions feature distinguished experts who will share their insights on the latest percutaneous mitral procedures and minimally invasive mitral valve surgeries.
We will also examine the evolving landscape of aortic surgery, focusing on novel approaches and technologies that enhance outcomes and reduce complications. The management of aortic diseases is pivotal, and we encourage open discussions on best practices incorporating both open and endovascular procedures.
Lung cancer remains a significant health challenge, and we are dedicated to exploring the latest advancements in early detection, surgical techniques, and multidisciplinary approaches to treatment. This segment will foster dialogue on lung cancer screening, updates on surgical management of resectable early-stage lung cancer and updates on adjuvant therapy.
In addition to the clinical aspects, we recognise the importance of discussing non-technical matters that affect our profession, education and training. There is also a Hands-on Surgical Ablation Workshop for the Treatment of AF, and nursing session on minimally invasive mitral valve programme. Last but not least, well organised social events including a boat cruise to the Marlborough Sounds!
I encourage you to check out the programme and registration information. We hope you engage actively in discussions, ask questions, and network with your peers throughout the conference. Your participation is vital in driving the future of cardiothoracic care.
Thank you for being here, and we look forward to an inspiring and informative conference
together!
Warmest regards,
Christine Goh
