ANZSCTS is participating in the Hearts4heart Heart Failure Awareness Week 19-25 June 2023. The campaign aims to:

  1. Raise awareness about heart failure prevalence in Australia,
  2. Educate Australians about the risk factors and symptoms of heart failure, and
  3. Provide information to assist in decision making about patient care.

Heart failure is a leading cause of morbidity and death in Australia, yet a Hearts4heart consumer survey found that two in three Australians at risk of heart disease, a precursor to heart failure, did not recognise their risk. They are determined to change this.

During the campaign, hearts4heart will launch a new patient guide titled “Living with Heart Failure: A Practical Guide for Patients and Loved Ones” at Parliament House on 21 June. This comprehensive resource empowers patients, families, and carers to actively participate in discussions and decisions regarding treatment alongside their heart failure multidisciplinary care team.

ANZSCTS members can support them by creating awareness about these important messages and resources. More information is available on their 2023 campaign page.
