The Cardiothoracic Surgery Paediatric Provisional Fellow position at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, within The Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network (SCHN), involves a clinical role within the Cardiac Service, as well as a leadership and educational role. This position provides an opportunity to develop skills important for a consultant role in the inpatient and outpatient setting, with the support from the Cardiothoracic Surgery Consultants as needed.

The Fellow will work closely with many of the other clinical teams in inpatient and outpatient care both clinically and strategically. The education role includes clinical supervision within the Heart Centre and Cardiac Service more broadly as well as the hospital wide education programs on both SCHN sites (Randwick and Westmead). Fellows may be requested to provide clinical support across SCHN.

The position provides effective service to paediatric patients with increasing autonomy, while developing expertise in surgical practice, in a complex clinical environment. It assists in ensuring that the service provided to patients and their families in New South Wales and beyond is of the highest quality, sustainable, flexible and transparent. The role will develop clinical proficiency in the care of children with congenital heart disease and associated complex health problems.

The position is available for the 2021 Clinical Year, up to 06 February 2022.

Applications close 17 March 2021.
